Sweeten Winter's Bitter Chill
Wednesday 04th October 2006
At this time of year, carrots in the field have developed a high level of sweetness, having trapped all of the summer sunshine under their skins.
Carrots are harvested all year round, so take advantage of their current natural sweetness and try out some seasonal recipes.
As the nights start to draw in, what better way to ward off the winter chill than with a sweet and warming bowl of carrot soup, a steaming spicy dish of Moroccan carrot puree with coriander and cumin, or a comforting family supper of baked chicken with lemony carrots, garlic and potatoes.
Packed full of nutrients, vitamins and fibre, carrots are a natural way to include some sweetness in your diet and brighten up your day!!
